Posted in Built by Sarah Johnson on January 25, 2010

Building: Karmøy Fishing Museum
Location: Karmøj, Norway
Completion Date: 1999
Architect:  Snøhetta
Design Team Principals: Craig Dykers. Christoph Kapeller, Kjetil Thorsen
Engineers: S/M/E/P: Peter Rasmussen AS
Project Administration/Construction Management: Peter Rasmussen AS
General Contractors: Einar Tangjerd AS, Kåløy, Kopervik
AE Interests: The museum is set perpendicular to the coastline which allows for the thin side of the structure to be a giant window overlooking the sea. There is a bracken basket weave pattern over the main entrance glass that is so tight that wind cannot easily go through. Rough polished concrete that reflects exterior light from the window at the end of the building.
