The University of Texas at Austin has a system of Bridging Disciplines Programs, which give students the opportunity to “develop a secondary area of specialization that complements their major. To earn a BDP certificate, students must complete 19 credit hours combining interdisciplinary coursework with hands-on research, internship, or creative experiences.”

Professor Brooks would like to encourage students to participate in this program, especially those from UT programs outside of Architectural Engineering, to encourage awareness of issues in contemporary built environments.

Abbey Zapalac is the first student to do this in 2021. Her research and BDP paper is featured below.
