AE Interests: China’s tallest building, curtain wall made of glass, stainless steel, aluminum, granite, and complex lattice cladding of aluminum alloy pipes, tiered pagoda style, octagonal concrete shear wall core, structure held by 8 exterior composite super columns and 8 exterior steel columns, outrigger trusses connect columns to cores, steel piles driven 83.5 m deep for foundation in poor soil, supports building in typhoon winds up to 200 km/h and earthquakes up to 7 on Richter scale, steel shafts with shear joints for shock absorption to compensate lateral forces of winds and earth quakes, swimming pool on 57th floor acts as passive damper, giant 3o story atrium
