AE Interest: Built above an existing underground parking garage. Timber framework was utilized for it to sit lightly on the garage’s concrete columns. 85 percent of the existing structure was used. Material waste for the new project decreased by 65 percent. V-shaped steel supports and a grid of square steel columns were installed for lateral resistance. Solar PV panels and natural lighting reduced energy usage by 63 percent.
