Siamese Tower – Santiago, Chile
Building: Siamese Tower
Location: Santiago, Chile
Architect: Alejandro Aravena – ELEMENTAL
Building Area: 5,000 sm
Design/ Construction Period: 2003-2005
AE interest: The building has two outer shells; the first is made of glass to protect against weathering and the second is made of fiber-cement to make it energy efficient. To account for the greenhouse effect they relied on the Venturi effect and allowed the hot air to rise through openings at the top of the building. [a]
