Building Name: Fallingwater (Edgar J. Kaufmann House)
Location: Mill Run, Pennsylvania
Architect: Frank Lloyd Wright
Engineers: Mendel Glickman, William Wesley Peters
Completion: 1939

AE Interests: Example of integrating nature and architecture, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, walls are mainly glass. Inspired by surrounding environment, which is characterized by valuable minerals, rocky and sloping landscape, plant life and forests, and small waterfalls. Cantilevered over the waterfall by reinforced concrete, tension cables eventually added after cracking of balcony floors. Strong horizontal and vertical lines.
