AE Interests: Lab and office facility that obtained LEED Gold certification and uses 1/3 of  the energy used in a typical laboratory facility, annual energy costs lowered by $150,000-200,000 [a], pervious concrete in the parking lot to collect drainage from the roof and condensate from AHUs (rainwater storage system) [a], aluminum brise-soleil to allow transparency while still blocking summer solar gains (reflecting traditional use of shutters and screens in New Orleans) [a,b], double-glazed glass in conference rooms with direct access to courtyard to create civic presence and green spaces within NOBIC [b], incorporation of local artists by including recycled glass art pieces in murals throughout the building [c], “Resiliency in Design” [c].
